Re-scored by: Ben Penfold-Marwick - Caligari 100

Robert Wiene was a German film director, screenwriter and producer, active during the silent era. He is widely-known for directing the landmark 1920 film The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari and a succession of other expressionist films. Wiene also directed a variety of other films of varying styles and genres. Following the Nazi rise to power in Germany, Wiene, who was of Jewish descent, fled into exile.

Ben Penfold-Marwick is a Perth-based musician. He runs a weekly heavy metal audio and video podcast, Nightbreed Metal Radio. He also manages Australian extreme metal underground label, Rassilon Records, which features acts such as Toxik Volcano, Meatfist, and Celestial Shadows. Demon Sin is Ben’s black metal, horror themed project. In 2022, Demon Sin released Nosferatu 100, a black metalized version of the 1922 German classic Nosferatu. He has also released various EPs, splits, and an album based on the macabre genius of Lucio Fulci. 2023 sees Demon Sin release another black metal score to a silent horror classic, The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari. Caligari is something Ben has always loved and he has enjoyed writing and recording a brutal, eerie black metal score to accompany the film - Caligari 100. This is the second in what Ben hopes will be an ongoing series of black metal scores to silent horror films.
